What is Rollover, how to analyze, how to use it in F&O expiry — complete Hindi guide.
Rollover means shifting the existing F&O position to the next expiry. When the current month's contract is about to expire, traders transfer their positions to the next month's contract.
Keep these four points in mind:
• High rollover + Price up — Bullish continuation
• High rollover + Price down — Bearish continuation
• Low rollover + Price up — Rally weak, profit booking
• Low rollover + Price down — Selling exhausted, reversal
Rollover Percentage:
• > 75% — High — positions continuing
• 60-75% — Normal
• 45-60% — Low — positions closing
• < 45% — Very low — significant unwinding
Strategy 1: Trend Continuation:
• Rising market + High rollover (>70%) → Bullish, hold longs
• Falling market + High rollover → Bearish, hold shorts
Strategy 2: Reversal Signal:
• Falling market + Low rollover (<50%) → Reversal possible
• Rising market + Low rollover → Weakness signal
Strategy 3: Rollover Cost Analysis:
• High rollover cost → Market expects volatility (events coming)
• Low rollover cost → Stability expected
Keep these four points in mind:
• Check rollover % — High or low?
• Check price direction — Up or down?
• Check rollover cost — Expensive or cheap?
• Combine signals — Strongest when multiple agree
