What is Rollover, how to analyze, how to use it in F&O expiry — complete Hindi guide.

What Is Rollover?

Rollover means shifting the current month F&O position to the next month. When monthly expiry comes, traders transfer their positions to the next month's contract.

Rollover Levels

Keep these four points in mind:
• > 75% — High — positions continuing strongly
• 60 - 75% — Normal — expected rollover
• 45 - 60% — Low — positions closing
• < 45% — Very low — significant unwinding

Rollover + Price Signals

Keep these four points in mind:
• Up — Rollover %: High (>70%), Signal: Bullish continuation
• Down — Rollover %: High (>70%), Signal: Bearish continuation
• Top — Rollover %: Low (<50%), Signal: Rally weak, profit booking
• Down — Rollover %: Low (<50%), Signal: Reversal possible

Rollover Cost Analysis

Rollover Cost = Next month premium - Current month premium

Keep these two points in mind:
• High cost → Market expects volatility (events coming)
• Low cost → Stability expected

Rollover Strategy

Keep these three points in mind:
• Trend continuation — High rollover + price direction = trend continues
• Reversal signal — Low rollover + opposite price = reversal possible
• Event play — High rollover cost = hedge before event
