What is Stock market, how it works, how to invest — complete Hindi guide for Indian beginners.
Stock market is a marketplace where buying and selling of shares (stocks) of companies takes place. When you buy stock of a company, you become a small owner of that company.
Simple definition: > Stock market = Digital marketplace where companies sell shares and investors buy shares.
There are 2 stock exchanges in India:
• NSE (National Stock Exchange) — more popular, more volume
• BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) — Asia's oldest exchange (1875)
SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) is the regulator of the stock market. It regulates the market, protects investors, and prevents fraud.
Stock prices are decided by demand and supply:
Keep these two points in mind:
• Buying more logs (demand > supply) → Price goes up
• Selling more logs (supply > demand) → Price goes down
Trading Process:
• 1. Company issues shares through IPO
• 2. Shares are listed on NSE/BSE
• 3. You buy/sell through broker
• 4. Orders are matched on the exchange
• 5. Settlement is T+1 (in next day shares demat)
