The second week of August (13-17) is going to be very eventful. There are three major triggers:
Keep these three points in mind:
• RBI MPC outcome — Wednesday/Thursday
• US PPI + CPI data — mid-week

• No major scheduled events
• FII/DII data will come from previous session
Tuesday (Aug 14):
• US PPI data (night IST) — inflation trend indicator
• Reliance Industries Q1 results expected
• Reliance results = Nifty weightage high, market impact significant

• TCS results possible (Q1 earnings)
Friday (Aug 17):

Current Position:
• Nifty 50: ~25,250 (consolidating)
• Range: 25,100 (support) — 25,350 (resistance)
• India VIX: ~13 (low, calm before storm)
Bullish scenario (RBI rate cut + good earnings):
• Break above 25,350 → 25,500 target
• Above 25,500 → 25,700-25,800 possible
• Triggers: rate cut, Reliance beat estimates, global positive
Bearish scenario (RBI status quo + weak earnings):
• Break below 25,100 → 24,800 target
• Below 24,800 → 24,500 support
• Triggers: no rate cut, earnings miss, FII selling accelerates
Base case (range continues):
• 25,100-25,350 side ways
• Low volatility, stock-specific action
• Sector rotation primary driver
Bank Nifty:
• Bank Nifty is also consolidating
• PSU banks in profit booking mode
• Private banks (HDFC, ICICI) stable
• RBI rate cut = positive for banks (lower funding costs)
PSU Banks — Profit Booking Continue:
• SBI, Bank of Baroda, PNB down 2-3% last week
• Long-term story intact: credit growth, NPA reduction
• Short-term: correction can continue 1-2 sessions
• Watch: Reversal possible on RBI rate cut
IT — Under Pressure:
• Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech weak
• US tech spending concerns
• TCS earnings Thursday = key trigger for sector
• If TCS beats → IT relief rally possible
• If TCS misses → IT under more pressure
Defense — Momentum Strong:
• HAL, BEL, Mazagon Dock, Cochin Shipyard bullish
• Defense budget tailwind, order books strong
• Retail interest high
• Risk: profit booking at extended levels
Energy — Crude Decline Positive:
• OMCs (HPCL, BPCL, IOC) benefiting from crude decline

• CVs weak (Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland)
• Passenger vehicles stable (Maruti, M&M)
• Auto ancillary mixed
Metals — China Dependent:
• China data this week = key for metals

• If China stimulus → metals rally
• If China weak → metals under pressure
US Inflation Data:
• PPI (Tuesday night): Producer prices — wholesale inflation trend
• CPI (Thursday night): Consumer prices — key Fed input
• Market expects: inflation cooling, Fed rate cut in September
• If inflation higher than expected → global equity selloff
Crude Oil:
• Brent declining towards $75-78
• OPEC+ production decisions
• Lower crude = positive for India (lower import bill, CAD improvement)
Asian Markets:
• Nikkei (Japan), Hang Seng (HK), Kospi (Korea) — all influence Nifty opening
• China data points through the week
• Asian currencies vs USD — INR stability matters
Check /calendar page for latest IPO updates. Expected:
• AMBA Auto (recent listing)

• Global markets check (US close, Asian opening)
• FII/DII data check
• Nifty GIFT indication
• Sectoral pre-open movers
During Market:
• Nifty 25,100-25,350 range respect
• reduce position size on RBI event
• Sector rotation possible after Reliance results
• RBI policy day + expiry = high volatility
Risk Management:
• Don't over-leverage — event week, volatility spike possible
• Stop losses strict — 25,100 break means 24,800 can come fast
• Hedge positions — event risk high, options hedge recommended
• Don't chase gaps — gap up/down can reverse after RBI decision
